80,461 Accounts Hacked & Leaked From A Weight Loss Support Forum

minimins.com, a weight loss support forum based in U.K was hacked and 80,461 account usernames and passwords were leaked. Le0n B3lm0nt, probably an anonymous hater released those account details on Pastebin via twitter with some anti-anonymous hash tags included on the tweet.

The forum which was running over an older version – 3.8.7 of vBulletin might be the reason for getting hacked, according to some security experts. The passwords of the users were hashed with salted MD5 encryption technology but was decrypted by the hacker and leaked it as plain text. The forum doesn’t mentioned about the hack on the site and no warnings were publicly announced so far. But, it is possible for them to reset the affected accounts passwords and let them change it while logging in.
It was obvious from this hack that outdated or old versions of softwares are always a target for hackers and most vulnerable to most of the attacking techniques. So, it was always recommended to use the latest version of software from WordPress, blogger to any forum and other online softwares. If you are an minimics.com user and afraid you are hacked then head to this DazzlePod page where the affected usernames are listed and try to change your password as soon as possible.
