Instagram launches new 'Data Download' tool that lets users keep a copy of everything they've shared on the app

Instagram is taking some new steps to give users more control over their data on the app.

The Facebook-owned social media platform on Tuesday introduced a new Data Download feature that lets Instagram users download a copy of all the content they've uploaded on the platform.

That includes data such as photos, videos, Stories, profile info, comments and messages.

An Instagram spokesperson told TechCrunch that the tool is 'currently accessible to everyone on the web, but access via iOS and Android is still rolling out'.

To access the Data Download feature, open the Instagram website on your desktop browser.

From there, navigate to your profile, then click on the gear icon and select 'Privacy and Security'.
